OVERHAULS AND MODERNIZATIONS

Due to the customers enlarging interest in reducing their financial costs, Railways and Urban Vehicles Division successfully performed overhaul repairs, the same occasion being also performed the rolling stock modernization. This type of activity was developed because customers have not the necessary endowments and specially trained personnel to perform the rolling stock overhaul repair and modernization.

There were performed overhaul repairs and modernizations of Diesel electric locomotives of 2100 HP: 210 PKP locomotives (from which 138 of Romanian Railways Administration and 22 for other customers).

The overhaul repairs and modernizations of the electric locomotives of 5100 kW began in 1989 being repaired 106 locomotives for Romanian Railways Administration. There were repaired 18 pcs. of 3400 kW Bo-Bo type electric locomotives for Romanian Railways Administration.

Railways and Urban Vehicles Division currently performs overhaul repairs and modernization of metro multiple units, tramways, buses and trolley-buses.

So, from 1993 up to 1994 there were repaired and modernized 13 metro multiple units belonging to METROREX Bucharest, 3 metro multiple units were modernized together with SECHERON, 11 tramways belonging to RAT Craiova, 3 tramways for RAT Bucharest and 17 buses for various transport administrations in Romania.

Since 1995, Railways and Urban Vehicles Division have developed various contracts with ABB and for the time being, with ADtranz for the manufacture of Diesel electric locomotive metallic bodies and of bogie frames.

For the time being, there are modernized 2100 HP Diesel electric locomotive (a co-operation with GENERAL MOTORS) and 5100 kW electric locomotive (a co-operation with SIEMENS AG).
