Electrical equipment for traction substations are intended to supply with electrical power the contact network
for trams/trolley buses (driven by DC motors) intended for passenger transport.
The main characteristics of the substations their numbers
and the distance between them are determined depending on passenger traffic frequency, rolling stock characteristics, traffic speed and runway linearity.
The contact network is supplied with a voltage of 600 or 825 VDC acquired from rectifiers with power semiconductors supplied from medium voltage network (6÷20kV).
